Behind the Scenes: Our First Big Digital Pass Event
Carlos R, Athletic Director, California
We’d been using printed season passes for years — laminating them, punching holes, dealing with lost cards. So when we switched to digital passes for our Fall season, we didn’t know what to expect.
Here’s what surprised us:
Families loved having it in their Apple/Google Wallet. We got more compliments than complaints, especially from parents juggling multiple kids.
The “fast lane” actually worked. We let digital pass holders skip the main line — it made them feel like VIPs and sped up entry.
We sold more than expected. Marketing them as a bundle (“$100 value for $85!”) helped — and people liked not needing to buy tickets every week.
One tip? Test the passes before your first event. We had to adjust brightness settings on a few phones to make scanning smooth.
Would we do it again? Absolutely — and we’re planning to offer family bundles next season.
